CFMS Alberta Ltd. is proud to kick off the New Year by announcing its latest project successes. In November 2016, Alberta Construction Magazine’s released its Winter issue, featuring its annual list of Alberta’s top construction projects. Of the 11 project winners, two were CFMS-Alberta’s projects with another two placing as finalists.
CFMS provided commissioning services over the course of six years for the following two winning projects:
International Facilities Project at YYC Calgary International Airport
Winner – Category: Commercial, Over 50 Million
YYC Calgary International Airport’s new international terminal stands as one of the largest commercial projects in Alberta history. To minimize disruptions to airport activity, the construction team adopted strict safety and security protocols and carefully planned out work schedules and project logistics. CFMS-Alberta provided all mechanical, electrical and the majority of the IT systems commissioning services for this LEED® Gold target project.
Said president of CFMS-Alberta, Craig Hatch, “This was a very challenging but rewarding project for us. We are proud to be part of a great team of experts in carrying out the project delivery for YYC International.”
Eau Claire Tower
Winner – Category: Sustainability
Sustainability is a defining feature of this new 25-storey office tower, which was built to LEED Platinum standards. Among its notable features are the chilled-beam system used to cool the perimeter of each office floor and an easily expandable dashboard system to monitor building operations with real time diagnostics to maximize the overall building performance and efficiency. CFMS-Alberta provided both mechanical and electrical systems commissioning for the base-building component of this project.
Diane Lee, partner at CFMS-Alberta, was proud of the company’s involvement in the project, “We were happy to be chosen as the commissioning consultant for all Oxford Properties tenant-construction projects within this building. Congratulations to Oxford Properties, and everyone on the project team, for a job well done.”
Additionally, Kahanoff Centre Two, completed together with Target Project Management and CANA Construction; and Remington YMCA, completed together with the City of Calgary and Bird Construction, were recognized as finalists in the Alberta Construction Magazine competition that annually honours the best of the best in the provincial construction industry. In selecting the winners and finalists, judges consider design, sustainability, budget and schedule integrity, the use of innovative construction technologies and methods, and overall project impact on the community.
Said Craig Hatch, president of CFMS-Alberta, “There are four highly unique projects, each of which strengthened our team’s expertise, methodologies and project delivery. The YYC International Facilities Project, in particular, was the largest project for which CFMS-Alberta has ever provided commissioning services; it was an opportunity we embraced.”
